Driving Licence

For expats who wish to obtain a Thai driving licence, you can contact the Land Transport Department. In Chiang Mai, this office is
located on Hang Dong road(between Tesco Lotus and Big C).
The following papers are required to makethe application:
1/ Passport with valid Non-Immigrant visa(not a tourist visa)
2/ Present residence address certified by
embassy or immigration Bureau.Note: the immigration bureau requires a copy of lease contract when you apply for residence certificate.
3/ Medical certificate from hospital stating good health.
You should prepare two copies of each paper. Arrive at the
Department before 9am morning, join the two hours instruction then do the test. If you pass, you will do the driving test later in the afternoon. Instruction classes are held from Monday to Friday, twice a day (9am and 1.30pm). The Land Transport Department: Hang Dong Rd, Chiang Mai.
