For the first application, if the parent doesn’t have a job yet, he or she will be allowed to stay for nine months with a condition that by the next application he or she must be working. The next year the parent has to show evidence of payment of income tax. In case the person has only savings in the bank but no work, he or she will be interrogated as to where the money comes from and the bank account will be inspected for movements of funds.In case of divorce between Thai and foreigner, if the foreigner wishes to stay in Thailand to look after the child which is under his or her custody, evidence such as blood test will have to be shown.
