Buying a house
in Chiang Mai.
Law has changed a few years ago and a Thai woman married to a foreigner can now buy a house and a land but her husband must sign a declaration at the Land Office, stating that the house is no part of the couple’s estate and that, if they divorce, the house will not go to him. A Thai women married to a foreigner is allowed to keep the land which she already owns before getting married, she can also inherit.
